Beijing universities open campuses for winter vacation tours
As the winter vacation approaches, Beijing universities, including Tsinghua University and Peking University, are opening their campuses to the public. These esteemed institutions will extend their opening hours and broaden access for the duration of the winter break, tapping into the rising interest in educational tourism.
Both universities will make their cultural and sports facilities accessible to the public. Tsinghua University plans to use its excellent performance and theater resources to offer public performances and art classes. Meanwhile, Peking University's newly opened Weiming Lake ice rink has quickly become a popular attraction, drawing visitors for ice and snow sports every weekend.
Aiming to transform standard public tours into immersive educational experiences, Peking University is granting free access to its prestigious Arthur M. Sackler Museum of Art and Archaeology, Museum of Biology, Geological Museum, and other notable attractions. Tsinghua University has also arranged for mobile campus tour guides to enrich the visitor experience during the winter vacation.
To manage the expected influx of visitors, the universities have stipulated that their daily visiting hours during the winter vacation will be extended by one hour in the morning and afternoon. Tsinghua University has increased its daily reservation capacity to accommodate over 12,000 visitors, an increase of approximately 50% compared to previous figures. Peking University has optimized dedicated entry channels to prevent overcrowding at campus entrances during peak hours. The north entrance on the east side of the campus will be designated for visitors with reservations, while the south entrance will be designated for students, faculty, and the information center.
Additionally, several other renowned Beijing universities, including Renmin University of China, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing Sport University, and Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, have announced they are opening their campuses to the public. Visitors can arrange appointments, register, or present their ID cards in accordance with specified regulations to enjoy tours of these institutions.
